In vivo Disease Model Developing and Disease Modeling Laboratory

The In vivo Disease Model Developing and Disease Modeling Laboratory was established in 2020 within the framework of the National Laboratory of Biotechnology. Our goal is to perform in vivo screenings on Drosophila models of cancer, neurodegenerative, and other nervous system diseases using molecular libraries and/or candidate molecules, with the aim of identifying new drug candidates.

The foundation of the laboratory is based on the tradition of Drosophila research in Szeged, which spans over 50 years, the currently active six research groups, and the continuously developing research infrastructure that supports them. Relying on the laboratory experience and expertise of our staff, we participate in our own disease model development projects and also provide access to our infrastructure as a service.
