Complex Molecular and Cell Biology Centre

HUN-REN BRC excellent research infrastructures

The HUN-REN BRC RI is organized around three major themes, namely high-throughput screening (HTS) systems, imaging studies and high-sensitivity molecular biology studies. The main objectives are to understand the functioning of living systems: bacteria, yeasts, algae, plants, insects, and humans at the level of basic molecular and cellular biology research. Drug development against drug-resistant pathogenic bacteria and fungi is also being carried out on the HTS platform. Tissue and organ models can also be studied using optical and electrical elements integrated with HTS cell laboratory systems. Plant phenomics and photobiology instrumentation is used to study the physiological processes of plants/algae. On the imaging platform, cancer-focused AI-supported single-cell studies and neurodegeneration are ongoing. The third molecular biology pillar includes cancer research at the molecular level and complex spectroscopy and metabolomics-based measurements.
